3 students were killed in a shooting at the American University of Virginia


Today, Monday, American media reported that 3 members of a football team were killed and 2 others were wounded at the University of Virginia in a shooting that took place on Sunday evening.


She added that the suspect in carrying out the attack was a student at the university, pointing out that the victims were members of the university's football team.


The American Associated Press quoted the university's director, Jim Ryan, as saying that the victim students were "members of the university's football team" and were killed on campus.


Ryan added that the shooting injured two other students, one of whom was in a "critical" condition.


American media also indicated that the crime occurred during the return of the football team bus from a trip to Washington, DC.


For its part, the police identified the suspect and said his name was Christopher Jones, 22, a student at the University of Virginia. It is noteworthy that the police arrested the accused, and are looking into his motives.


The shooting in Virginia is the latest in a series of gun violence at US universities and high schools in recent years.
