WATCH - England defender Cody from Doha: There has never been a World Cup like this and we will respect the rules in Qatar

England defender Connor Cody confirmed respect for the laws and everything that is happening in Qatar - the country hosting the 2022 World Cup - after the great controversy that took place around England, due to its leadership of a European campaign against Doha, similar to Qatar's hosting of the World Cup.

Cody said in press statements from Qatar - today, Thursday - that were circulated by the platforms: "We believe that football is for everyone. We came to the country, and we will respect the rules and respect everything that is happening in Qatar."

"There has never been a World Cup like this before, we are all so excited. We are all here for one thing, to do well in the World Cup and push our country as far as possible," added the Everton defender.

And the England national team had announced - last September - that it had joined the campaign that included 9 European teams, namely: the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Wales, in which they would participate by wearing a badge with certain “anti-discrimination” connotations in the World Cup, and that the captain of the Three Lions Harry Kane will wear it in the Qatar World Cup.

On his participation in the World Cup, Cody said: “The World Cup is held every 4 years and it is something we all look forward to, and I am no different. I am lucky enough to come to play with these great players, work with a great coach and his assistants, and enjoy every minute.”

The England national team arrived in Doha - last Tuesday - and started its first training sessions yesterday in preparation for the World Cup, as it participates in the second group competitions with Iran, America and Wales.
